Concept design for hybrid commercial/retail space

The start of a global pandemic changed the course of 2020 with the way we live, work and socialise outdoors. Businesses have also had to adjust the way they operate making it difficult to survive.

Two independent businesses, Clay studio and The watered garden a space for people to escape urban city life/working from home. Both have the aim to create a connection with people and the natural environment through live workshops, a hybrid retail space and elements of learning plant and pot care.

Located on Beck street near the City Centre, this will contribute to Nottingham’s aim to become a greener city with the inclusion of a small pocket park inspired rooftop space.

BUY. LEARN. EXPLORE

Hybrid space close to the centre of Nottingham to buy plant care and ceramic products, learn about the process of clay making/plant care and opportunity to explore and enjoy the space away from the busy city life.

WORKING AS A HYBRID

The key idea is to create a hybrid space between two businesses which can work together as one.

  1. Individual spaces for current workshops and private services each business already provide. Space can cater up to 10 people

  2. Area for small hybrid workshops that involve learning about plant care and what pots are suitable for the chosen plant

  3. Retail area area for plants, pots and other ceramic pieces

  4. Small garden, pocket park or open space for customer and local usage

Breaking down the space
