Ecommerce
The goal of this project is to create an e-commerce application for a small local
grocery store that wants to expand its reach by selling products online. The app should be easy to use and navigate, have clear product descriptions
and images, and allow customers to place orders and make payments with
ease
As a UX/UI designer, I am responsible for the whole process from research, conception, creation and final design. The aim is to design a new functional website suitable for desktop and mobile devices that cater to people within travel who find it difficult to easily plan trips in one go and will be able to have all required information in one website.
designer role
For user research, it was essential to look into the current market of apps that sell goods/groceries online and what is currently missing from the market or what users want more of. The addition of conducting short surveys and questionnaire on grocery shopping also helped to get an insight on how much theses apps are used, what would encourage them to be used and their thoughts on apps the delivery groceries
User Research
Problems
The feedback on app usage was quite similar, with users noting the below;
Low quality goods
High delivery fees
Preference in going to a shop in close proximity
Problem Solving
From the research conducted, 3 distinct user personas to represent different user types were created based on who may use the app and ensuring these are used to keep each design decision aligned with these users in mind
Quality groceries (fresh fruit & veg)
Good customer service
Fast & Free delivery to users in a certain radius
Easy app usage/ordering
Ordering available anytime
Click & Collect options
Final Design
For the final design inspiration was taken from the idea of green for organic produce and creating a simple and clean app interface. To help focus and create a user centred design that would be suitable, it was essential to keep referring back to the userflow and how the final design could fit into this.
